The first integral was

∫   [  (x2 + 3x - 1)   /   (x+1)   ]   dx   .

Give it a try! Did you get the correct answer? How do I know if I got the correct solution you may ask. Well, just differentiate your answer to see if you get the integrand. If you did get y = ½ x2 + 2x - 3 ln | x+1| + C, then you would have already made 1 out of the possible 46 points. There were a total of 13 problems. Why not give the rest of the Bee a try? How are you doing with the integrals? Have you made it to Half Time yet? During Half Time we had
    ice cream !!

The PME/GMC Faculty Advisors (Matt Boylan, Maria Girardi, and Ronda Sanders) showed up. Some other Math Faculty and Friends also came: Deynise Griggs (photographer), Jerry Griggs (Math Dept Chair), and Dave Sumner (keeper of the ice cream). The six of them really didn't do much (not even one integral!).
    But

they did

raffle off

    some pretty

awesome

door prizes.

BTW
If you see Bill Kay,
ask he if he has figured
out the algorithm to the
Rubik's Cube Solution.
