Ewa Wojcicka

On December 10, 1995 Ewa was driving back from Statesboro Georgia having just dropped off two of her nieces at her sisters house. She was traveling towards Charleston, her home, when she lost control and her car swerved across the highway into the path of an oncoming Ford Pickup truck. The truck hit her Honda Civic at full speed on the passenger's side and Ewa was critically injured and trapped inside. She was rescued by the local fire department and the Life Star helicopter team from Savannah Memorial Hospital. She made an amazing recovery during her month in the ICU at Savannah and her recovery would have been a truly astounding success story except that another bizarre accident in the rehabilitation clinic cost her life.

This site is devoted to her memory. It tells of her life and her final ordeal.

Ewa was a great teacher, an excellent research mathematician, a super tennis player, a fantastic human being and the greatest love of my life. I hope these few pages can bring some recognition to her all too short life.
