Student Research Competition


    A research competition for the student members of the chapter were
held in spring 2005. Participants were required to submit an abstract
(up to five pages) summarizing their research together with supporting
documents (reprints and preprints).The competition was judged by two
faculty members of the chapter, Dr.Lili Ju and Dr. Lincoln Lu, both from
the Department of Mathematics. The winners were announced at the end
of semester get-together on April 22, 2005.

Logo Cometition


    There was a competition for for the design of a logo for the chapter.
There were three submissions and the winning design was announced on
February 28, 2004 at a get-together where the new officers were introduced.

SIAM Southeast Atlantic Section Meeting


    The chapter organized a trip to the SIAM Southeast Altantic Section Meeting
in Charleston(March 25-26,2005).Ten members participated and the chapter
supported one student who gave a presentation in the special session for SIAM
Student Chapters.
