    Extra Credit

Extra credit problems are to be done strictly on your own, except that you are allowed to come to me for help on them. Extra credit problems are to be handed in at the beginning of classes. If you are late for class and have extra credit to hand in, put it on the table as you come in. There is no due date, but once a fully correct solution is handed back, the problem is no longer eligible for extra credit. If you can't quite get the solution but have some ideas, hand them in for partial credit and I'll have some hints for how to go on. I will keep adding to your score as you improve your work on it.

    1. [Expired] Use matrices to get the answer to number 51 on page 27.

    2. [Expired] Number 2, page 44.

    3. [minimum of 6 points] Graph the conic in number 28 on page 38. If you use a computer or calculator to do it, list the commands you used. To get more than a minimum, analyze the graph by giving information such as asymptotes, etc. A section on conics in a good calculus text should give a good idea of what's important.

    4, 5, 6. [Expired] pp. 104-105, numbers 54, [4 points], 62 [6 points], and 72 [3 points].

    7. p. 105, number 74 [6 points].

    8 through 16 have expired.
