Week 1 (Classes begin Monday, Friday is the last day to drop without a grade of W)
Jan. 10 (M) Read 7.1, 7.2. Do #1, 2, 3, 6, 8, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 25, 29, 31, 32, 35, 39, 44, 47 from section 7.1. Turn in the Student Information Sheet tomorrow.
Jan. 11 (Tu) Read 7.2 and work a few of the problems. I'll assign specific problems tomorrow.  
Jan. 12 (W) Read 7.3. Do #2, 3, 5, 8, 9, 12, 13, 16, 17, 19, 26, 31, 36 from 7.2. Do some of #1-10 from 7.3.  
Jan. 13 (Th) Read 7.4 and 6.3. Do #13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 25, 28, 30, 32, 34, 37, 38, 39 from 7.3. We will have a quiz next time on 7.1-7.3.
Week 2 (Monday is Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Service Day)
Jan. 18 (Tu) Read 6.2, 6.3, and 7.4. Do #8, 12, 18, 19, 22 from 6.2. Do #6, 10, 15, 22 from 6.3.  
Jan. 19 (W) Do #1, 8, 12, 14, 17, 20, 21, 23, 25, 29, 32, 37, 39 from 7.4. Quiz Monday on 6.2, 6.3, and any volume problems we've encountered in chapter 7.
Jan. 20 (Th) Read 7.5. Do #2, 5, 9, 11, 13, 17 from 7.5. Quiz Monday on 6.2, 6.3, and any volume problems we've encountered in chapter 7.
Week 3
Jan. 24 (M) Read 7.6. Do #14, 15, 20, 21 from 7.5. Take-home quiz due at beginning of tomorrow's class.
Jan. 25 (Tu) Class cancelled due to winter storm.  
Jan. 26 (W) Do #2, 5, 8, 13, 15, 25, 26, 29, 30, 31, 32, 35, 41, 44, 45 from 7.6.

Jan. 31 (M) Read 7.7. Finish the problems from 7.6.  
Feb. 1 (Tu) Do #1, 5, 9, 13, 17, 21, 25, 26, 29, 33, 35 from 7.7. Quiz Thursday on 7.6 and 7.7.
Feb. 2 (W) Read 8.1. Tomorrow's quiz will cover 7.6 and 7.7. I won't ask any integration problems. No calculators will be allowed.
Feb. 3 (Th) Do #3, 5, 6, 8, 13, 15, 18, 22, 27, 43, 44, 47, 52, 55, 56 from 8.1. You should be able to solve any of #1-58 so do more if you need practice.  
Week 5
Feb. 7 (M) Read 8.2. Do #2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 12, 14, 15, 17, 25, 27, 31 from 8.2.  
Feb. 8 (Tu) Read 8.3. Finish all of the homework from 8.1 and 8.2. We will have an in-class quiz on Thursday for 8.1-8.2, and a take-home quiz on Thursday for 8.3-8.4.
Feb. 9 (W) Read 8.4. Do #1, 3, 4, 8, 15, 17 from 8.3. #2, 5, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 27, 32, 38, 39, 43, 48, 49, 51, 73, 74 from 8.4. You only need to finish the first half of the assigned problems from 8.4 for tomorrow. In-class quiz tomorrow on 8.1-8.2. Take-home quiz tomorrow on 8.3-8.4.
Feb. 10 (Th) Do #26, 27, 29, 30 from 8.3. Finish assigned problems from 8.4. Read 8.5. Turn in take-home quiz at the beginning of Monday's class.
Week 6
Feb. 14 (M) Do #1, 5, 7, 14, 17, 21, 22, 27, 34, 35, 43 from 8.5. Read 9.1 and do #3, 4, 5, 8, 10 from 9.1. To prepare for Thursday's test, you may want to do some of #1-43 in 8.6.
Feb. 15 (Tu) Read 9.2. Do #1, 9, 12, 21, 23, 30 from 9.2. Thursday's test will cover 7.7, 8.1-8.6, 9.1-9.2. Since we haven't gone over much of 9.2, you can expect only limits with the indeterminate forms (infinity/infinity). Look at #1-10 for these types of problems.
Feb. 16 (W) Test tomorrow. Help session with Bob at 9:00 PM in Maxcy. You can also go to Mary Ellen O'Leary's help session at 7:00 PM in LeConte 121. She is also an instructor for math 142 honors.

Feb. 21 (M) Read 9.3. Finish the 9.2 problems and do #2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 19, 26, 28 from 9.3. We will have a quiz Wednesday on 9.2 and 9.3.
Feb. 22 (Tu) Read 9.4. Quiz tomorrow on 9.2 and 9.3.
Feb. 23 (W) Do #2, 3, 5, 16, 21, 22, 29, 46, 47 from 9.4.  
Feb. 24 (Th) Read 10.1 and 10.2. Do #8, 9, 10, 11, 15, 16, 23, 24 from 10.1. Bring take-home quiz #5 to class on Monday.
Week 8
Feb. 28 (M) Read 10.2. Give a bound for the error in each of the approximations that you computed for the 10.1 problems. Now redo the 10.1 problems to figure out what order Taylor polynomial you would have to use to guarantee that the error was less that 0.001 in absolute value. Read the "Taylor's Formula with Remainder" theorem carefully to see why we cannot use it to find a bound on the error for #23d in section 10.1.
Feb. 29 (Tu) Skim through 10.3. Do #15, 20, 25, 26 from 10.2. Take-home quiz tomorrow on 10.1 and 10.2.
March 1 (W)   Turn in take-home quiz at beginning of tomorrow's class.
March 2 (Th) Read 11.1 and 11.2. Do #1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 12, 15, 16, 19 from 11.2. Do #2, 4, 9, 17, 19, 21, 23, 24, 27 from 11.1. Our next test will cover 9.1-9.4, 10.1-10.2, and 11.1-11.2.
Week 9 (Spring Break!)
Week 10
March 13 (M) Finish 11.1 and 11.2 problems and also do #25, 27, and 34 from 11.2. Please note that Thursday's assignment was originally listed on this web page incorrectly. It is corrected now so be check that you have done the correct assignment.
March 14 (Tu) Prepare for Thursday's test. Help session will be Wednesday, 9:00 PM in Maxcy.
March 15 (W) Test tomorrow will be approximately 10% from 9.1 and 9.2, 20% from 9.3 and 9.4, 35% from 10.1 and 10.2, 10% from 11.1 and 25% from 11.2. Help session tonight at 9:00 PM in Maxcy.
March 16 (Th) Test 3 Read 11.3 very carefully, and be sure you understand the statement and proofs of Theorem A, Theorem B, and example 2. Do # 1, 3, 6, 8, 10, 11 from 11.3. We will have a quiz at the beginning of Monday's class where you will be expected to state Theorem B word for word.
Week 11
March 20 (M) Finish problems from 11.3.  
March 21 (Tu) Read 11.4. Do #13, 16, 23, 25 from 11.3. Do #1, 3, 5, 7, 9 from 11.4. Quiz Thursday.
March 22 (W) Do #13, 14, 19, 20, 22, 27, 32, 43 from 11.4. Take-home quiz tomorrow on 11.1-11.4. In-class quiz Monday where you will have to state word-for-word the ratio test, the alternating series test, and the limit comparison test. For the limit comparison test, be sure to indicate when you can determine convergence or divergence when the limit is 0 or infinity.
March 23 (Th) Read 11.5 and do #1, 3, 5 from that section. Turn in your take-home quiz at the beginning of Monday's class. Prepare for Monday's quiz described yesterday.
Week 12
March 27 (M) Do #7, 9, 13, 15, 17, 19, 23 from 11.5.  
March 28 (Tu) Read 11.6 and do #1, 3, 5, 9, 13, 17, 19 from that section.  
March 29 (W) Read 11.7 and do #1, 2, 4, 7, 13, 14, 16 from that section.  
March 30 (Th) Read 11.8. Do #9, 17, 25, 27 from 11.7. Do #1, 3, 5, 7, 12, 17, 18 from 11.8. Quiz Monday on 11.5 and 11.6.
Week 13
April 3 (M) Quiz postponed until tomorrow.  
April 4 (Tu) Do #1-15 on page 570.  
April 5 (W) Do #16-32 on page 570.  
April 6 (Th) Do #33-42 on page 571. For Monday's quiz, you should memorize the table of important Maclaurin series on page 567. You will need to know the interval of convergence for each one. If it is not listed then the series converges for all x.
Week 14
April 10 (M) Read 12.6. Do #43-52 on page 571.  
April 11 (Tu) Practice using your calculator for graphing polar equations.  
April 12 (W) Test tomorrow covers all of chapter 11. Help session tonight at 9:00 PM in Maxcy.
April 13 (Th) Test 4 Read 12.7. Do #4, 9, 10, 14, 15, 17, 18, 20, 22, 23, 27 from 12.6.
Week 15
April 17 (M) Finish problems from 12.6 and do #1-32 from 12.7.  
April 18 (Tu) Read 12.8.  
April 19 (W) Do #2-6, 11-18, 20-22 from 12.8. We will start reviewing tomorrow for the final exam.
