Prerequisite: Qualification through placement, or a grade of C or better in Math 111 or 115.
Text: Applied Calculus (3rd edition) by Hughes-Hallett, Gleason, Lock, Flath, et al. The Student Solutions Manual and Student Study Guide are optional.
Calculator: A graphing calculator is required for this course. A TI-83 or TI-84 is highly recommended since my in-class instructions will be for these two calculators. You should always bring your calculator to class.
Drop Date: The last day to drop without a grade of WF is October 2, 2008.
Attendance: You are expected to come to every class on time and stay until the end of class.

Learning Outcomes: Students will master concepts and solve problems involving derivatives and integrals of elementary algebraic, exponential, and logarithmic functions. That knowledge will be applied to finding maxima, minima, rates of change, and area under a curve.

Assignments: You should expect to work at least 6 - 9 hours per week outside of class on assignments which will include daily reading, homework, and quizzes. These assignments do not count toward your overall course grade but doing well on them is essential if you want to succeed in this course. Some of the homework problems will be designed and graded automatically through the Wiley Plus website. To have access to this online homework, you should register using your real name and a valid email address at the website below.
