DAILY ASSIGNMENTS
Week 1 (Classes begin Thursday)
Aug. 22 (Th) Read chapter P (pages 1-75!). Since this is considered review, you can skim parts that you are already familiar with. In P.1, do #37-44. In P.2, do #29-42. In P.3, do #25-88. In P.4, do #19-113. In P.5, do #15-30. For chapter P, you don't have to do every problem assigned. It is considered review, so just do enough from each section for you feel confident in your understanding of the material.
Week 2 (Wednesday is the last day to drop without a grade of W)
Aug. 27 (T) In P.5, do #55-66. In P.7, do #43-54.  
Aug. 29 (Th) Read sections 1.1 and 1.2. In P.2, do #55-64, 71-76, 77-82. In 1.1, do #25-40. In 1.2, do #27-40.
Week 3 (Labor Day - Monday)
Sept. 3 (T) Read section 1.3. Tomorrow's office hours will be cancelled. In 1.2, do #53-74. In 1.3, do #35, 37, 40, 42, 45, 51, 54, 59, 60, 64, 68.
Sept. 5 (Th) Read section 1.4. In 1.4, do #7-11, 14-16, 24-29, 36-41, 59-62, 72-77, 114, 115, 117, 123.
Week 4
Sept. 10 (T) Read sections 1.6 and 1.7. In 1.6, do #12-14, 19, 40-42, 59-61.
Sept. 12 (Th) Read section 1.8. In 1.7, do #20, 22, 25, 31, 37, 39, 51, 53. In 1.8, do #12, 13, 17, 27, 37, 45.
Week 5
Sept. 17 (T) There is a test on Thursday. Bring an ID to class and arrive 10-15 minutes early. The test will cover sections P.1-P.7, 1.1-1.4, and 1.6-1.8. There will be a help session in our classroom on Wednesday from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM.

Week 8
Oct. 8 (T) No new homework.

Week 9 (Fall Break - Monday and Tuesday)

Week 10

Oct. 29 (T) Read section 3.3. In 3.3, do #2, 8, 10, 12, 17, 18, 27-30. For #27-30, you don't need to use synthetic division - just use the standard long division.
Oct. 31 (Th) Read sections 3.4 and 5.1. In 3.3, do #51-54. In 3.4, do #7-20.
Week 12 (Election Day - Tuesday)
Nov. 7 (Th) Read section 5.2. In 5.1, do #11-14, 27-30, 55-64, 66, 67, 70, 77-80. In 5.2, do #1-4, 9-12, 19-22, 63-68.
Week 13
Nov. 12 (T) Read section 5.3. In 5.3, do #1-4, 46-54, 63, 65-68, 79-82.
Nov. 14 (Th) Read sections 5.4-5.5. In 5.4, do #11-13, 17-19, 48-53, 71-78, 81-82, 87-93, 97-102, 107, 111-114.
Week 14
Nov. 19 (T) For Tuesday's test, I will have two help sessions. Times will be announced during the next class. In 5.5, do #7-18, 35, 37, 41, 45, 47, 49, 51.
Nov. 21 (Th) There is a test on Tuesday. Bring an ID to class and arrive 10-15 minutes early. The test will cover sections 3.3-3.4 and 5.1-5.5. A practice test is available in PDF and PostScript formats. If your computer cannot read either of these formats, then you need to download Adobe Acrobat Reader or Ghostscript. There will be two help sessions in our classroom - Sunday from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM, and Monday from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM.
Week 15 (Thanksgiving Break - Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday)

Week 16 (Last Day of Classes - Friday)
Dec. 3 (T) Read sections 3.5, 6.1, 6.2. Bring a pencil to class on Thursday. In 3.5, do #26, 47-51, 55, 60-62. In 6.1, do #15-24, 29-32. In 6.2, do #11-20.
Dec. 5 (Th) USC does not reopen until 10:30 AM today so class is cancelled. Sections 3.5, 6.1, and 6.2 will no longer be covered on the final exam. The final exam is cumulative covering all of the material from the first three tests. Studying them will be very helpful! If you still need to pick any of your tests, stop by my office in LeConte 400H any time after 2:00 PM today. I'll leave them in alphabetical order outside my office door. I will hold two review sessions in LeConte 412 (this is the building next to Petigru at the corner of Pickens and Green). The times for these are Sunday from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM and Monday from 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM. You can also get free tutoring in the Math Lab. Bring a pencil to the final exam on Tuesday.
