Course: Math 170, Finite Mathematics

Textbook: Finite Mathematics, Waner/Costenoble, Fourth Edition (ISBN 0-495-31665-2). A graphing calculator is required for this course. The TI-83 is preferred.

Course Material Covered: Chapter 1,2,3,4, 6,7,8 and some topics in the Appendix will be covered. The course is designed for business, social science and liberal arts major students. It covers linear algebra, linear programming, matrices, logic, set theory, probability, statistics, and their applications.

Grading policy: Quiz (the best five out of seven times): 10 points; Three midterms: 20 points for each; Final Exam: 30 points

The tentative test dates are:

No make-up test will be given. Attendance will be checked randomly for extra points. Homework will be assigned but won't be collected and graded. There is no provision for doing extra or outside work to improve your grade. If you want to get higher grade, it is good for you to attend regularly.   Test problems will be similar to the homework problems and quiz.
