All talks will be in LeConte College (the Math Department) on the corner of Greene Street and Pickens Street, see section D2 of the map.
Hotel Information
- The capstone is not available at this time. It is being renovated.
- Here is a list of hotels within walking distance of the Math Department. Everybody should make their own hotel reservations and arrangements. If you tell the hotel that you are visiting the Mathematics Department, they should offer the rate listed below.
We are thinking of the Clarion Hotel as the conference headquarters and we have told the Clarion the name of the Conference (Georgia State University -- University of South Carolina Commutative Algebra Seminar).
If you have difficulty, complain to Andy Kustin.

The Inn at USC --- $120 per night and taxes. The Inn at USC is pictured on the map in section C2.
- Clarion Hotel --- $92 per night and taxes. The Clarion is on the map more or less where the symbol N sits, section B2. Many of the conference participants are staying at the Clarion. The local contact person is

Marriott Courtyard downtown (old Holiday Inn) --- $109 per night and taxes. This hotel is on the corner of Assembly and Devine, section E4 on the map.
- Claussen's Inn --- $89 per night and taxes plus $15 for extra guest in room
(spouse,etc.) for standard room
$104 plus $15 (extra guest) for two story loft
type room. Claussen's Inn is on Greene Street about 4 blocks East of the Eastern edge of the map.
- If you are willing to drive from your hotel to the Math department, Columbia is filled with hotels, surely you will find one that suits you. For example, the Atlantans have sometimes stayed at the
Ramada Inn. It is about six miles from the Math Department.
Parking on Campus
- If you are staying at one of the hotels within "walking distance of the Math Department", then you can't find a closer parking place than the hotel parking lot.
- On Saturday and Sunday you may park in the lots labeled B-Faculty parking with out any permit. The two parking lots nearest to LeConte are labeled B6 and B10 on this map or
this map (closer view).
- On Friday you may park in the same lots, but you need a permit. Contact Andy Kustin if you need a permit. Also, there are meters in various places.
