Title:     A new look at FETI

Abstract:  A coordinate-free formulation of the Finite Element Tearing and 
           Interconnecting (FETI) method and a new 3D FETI preconditioner
           are presented in this paper.  The coarse problem for the new
           preconditioner is mesh-independent and the condition number of
           the preconditioned system is bounded by a constant C times the
           square of 1+ln(H/h), where H is the typical diameter of the
           subdomains, h is the mesh-size of the triangulation and the
           constant C is independent of the number of subdomains and jumps
           of coefficients.  The analysis of the new preconditioenr can be
           carried out within the additive Schwarz framework.
