My research has centered on modeling the orientation of nematic liquid crystal polymers; how this orientation influences and is influenced by a flow field, electromagnetic field, and/or anchoring conditions at a boundary; and how the rheological properties of such a fluid depend on the orientation. I did my Ph.D. work at the University of North Carolina under the direction of Greg Forest as part of the Complex Fluids and Soft Matter Materials research group.
