After receiving his Ph.D. degree from Tel-Aviv University
in 1979, he
was a Rothschild Fellow and a Bateman Research Instructor in the Applied
Math Department at CalTech. He returned to Tel-Aviv University and became
Chair of its Applied Math Department in 1991. He joined UCLA in 1995.
Professor Tadmor has published numerous research articles and monographs
in various areas of numerical analysis and applied differential equations.
His research interests include analysis of time-dependent problems
governed by nonlinear partial differential equations, the development of
modern high-resolution methods for the approximate solution of these
problems, and the interplay between the theory and computational aspects
of such approximate methods.
