Prof. Alexander Bobylev

Short Biography


Born in Moscow, Professor Bobylev received his Ph.D. in Mathematics in 1978 and his Doctor of Science in Mathematics in 1984 from the Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics at the USSR Academy of Sciences. He is a Professor of Mathematics at Karlstad University, Karlstad, Sweden, since 2000. He has also held positions at the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute in the Department of Applied Mathematics and at the Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics.

Professor Bobylev has over 120 research publications which include a book published in 1987 entitled Exact and Approximate Methods in the Theory of Boltzmann and Landau Kinetic Equations. In 1989 he received the USSR State Prize in Science and Technology and in 2001 he was awarded the "Best Paper of the Year 2000" from the Japan Society of Fluid Mechanics, Tokyo, for hihs paper "Theory of Collision Algorithms for Gases and Plasmas on the Boltzmann Equation and the Landau-Fokker-Planck Equation",
