Professor Petter Bjorstad is one of the leading figures in Scientific
Computing in the world. He is Professor of Numerical Analysis at the
University of Bergen, Norway, and the Director of Parallab, a laboratory
for parallel computing.
He is currently co-Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of High
Performance Computing Applications, and serves on several other editorial
boards. He has coauthored the first monograph on domain decomposition,
"Domain Decomposition: Parallel Multilevel Methods for Elliptic Partial
Differential Equations", and has edited five other books.
Besides serving on numerous scientific and program committees for
international conferences, he has also served as president of The Nordic
Society for Applied Mathematics and the SIAM Nordic Section.
