Mathematics Placement @ USC

Freshmen admitted to the University of South Carolina are required to take a mathematics placement test. This test is designed to give our academic advisors the best data so they can give the best possible advice to their students about how to begin their collegiate mathematics education.

The exam you take depends on the mathematics requirements for your major. Students whose program of study includes Calculus I (Math 141) are required to take the Pre-Calculus Placement Test. Students needing to take Calculus for Business Administration and Social Sciences (Math 122) should take the Algebra Placement Test.

We are in the process of preparing these placement tests to be administered online. We plan to have these available some time this week (May 12-16, 2008).

Further questions about foreign language or math placement at USC should be directed to the office of Orientation and Testing Services.
