Abstract:

In this paper, we derive a residual-type a posteriori error estimator for the finite volume discretization of steady convection-diffusion equations defined on general surfaces in $R3$, where the surface may be implicitly represented as level sets of smooth functions. Reliability and efficiency of the a posteriori error estimator are rigorously proved.
