MATH 570 Discrete Optimization

Prerequisite:  A GRADE OF C OR BETTER IN MATH 526 OR 544

Textbook:   Linear Programming,  by Chvatal, Vasek; published by W. H. Freeman and Company

Subject Material:   Only selected chapters of the textbook will be covered. Topics include linear programming, integer programming, network analysis, and dynamic programming.

Homeworks and Exams:   There are 5 homeworks and two exams. You may bring one 8.5 by 11 inch handwritten sheet of notes with you to each exam. No book or more than one page of notes are allowed during the exam.

Makeup exam policy:    Makeup exams are only allowed with proper documents.

Final Exam:  The final examination will be held on Friday, Dec. 12 at 2PM scheduled in the Final Examination Schedule.  You may bring one 8.5 by 11 inch handwritten sheet of notes with you to the final examination.

Grading: Homeworks: 25%, Exams 20% each, and Final 35%. Your final grade is based on the percentage as follows.
